The 1920s

Zelindo began working as a laborer at the then Villa Saletta estate, near Palaia.

Soon, with his decisive and confident character, he became a point of reference for the owners and the farmer himself.

This earned him the appointment of Game Warden and, in addition to monitoring the estate's reserves, he was tasked with taking the Gambacastelli family's guests hunting in the woods.

The dinners and lunches served for guests never lacked game, oil, and the company's own wine, but also another fruit of the earth: truffles!

The Beginning of the Story

Little known, but not to the lords of the Northern regions, Lombardy and Piedmont in particular, who, tasting and seeing the abundance of the white truffle, found a valuable reference in Zelindo. So they began buying from him the truffles he collected during the week from other truffle hunters. It might have seemed like a simple pleasure, but in reality that was just the beginning of our story...

The turning point came when Zelindo, with his first earnings, obtained after a long period of buying and selling truffles, decided to treat himself; he replaced his old Vespa with a BSA 1000, a highly sought-after and coveted motorcycle of the time!
