When Christian Plattner heard from a fellow winemaker that this vineyard was for sale, he could hardly believe it. A steep, southeast-facing slope with old, deep-rooted vines of the Pinot Noir grape variety and the almost extinct, indigenous white grape variety "Blaterle."
It had to be done quickly, as there were naturally many interested parties. When he finally got the nod from the owner, it was almost a miracle for him. It may sound ironic, but Christian later learned in passing that this vineyard bore the historical name "Wunder."
At first, Christian wasn't aware that so much manual labor went into this steep slope.
Upon tasting the first wines, however, it immediately became clear to him that the arduous work was undoubtedly worth it. Despite the steep slope and the associated exertion, the location is, for him, the most beautiful workplace in the world, thanks to the breathtaking view of one of the most famous mountain ranges in the Dolomites, the Catinaccio.
